Look ups are place holders in oracle - Where you can put some values which are important for your business but not available in oracle.

In programming terms these are like arrays – look up name is a variable – which can have many different values.

There are 3 different kind of look ups – System – used by oracle -

User – available for custom programs

Extensible – used by oracle but can also allows to define new values
